Berlin Outdoor Exhibition 22 May - 29 July 2012

On 22 May 2012, The United Nations International Day for Biological Diversity, our next "Wild Wonders of Europe" outdoor exhibition will open in Berlin.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by The German Minister for Environment, Norbert Röttgen, at Washington Platz, right in front of the Hauptbahnhof, Europe's largest central station and close to the Reichstag and Kanzleramt. It will remain on display here until 29 July 2012 with free entry, open day and night!

We are extremely grateful to The Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit), for making the exhibition possible and for bringing our message to the heart of Germany. The Wild Wonders of Europe exhibition will form the central part of the city's official UN decade of Biodiversity celebrations, an honour that we are thrilled to be a part of.

The exhibition celebrates our natural heritage and aims to contribute to a wider understanding of Europe's biodiversity issues. It showcases the continent's most charismatic landscapes and species with a selection of 100 images from all 48 European countries. Detailed captions talk about the image and the wider conservation message behind it.

This year's crucially important UN theme is Marine Biodiversity. In line with that, the exhibition contains many fabulous marine images by some of Europe's leading underwater photographers. (look out for our book "Wild Waters of Europe" to be published later in the year too!) A special selection of images from Berlin's impressive urban biodiversity and of Germany's UNESCO World Heritage Beech Forests will also be on display.

This is our fourth outdoor exhibition in a panEuropean tour that we are conducting with Life Exhibitions.

This captivating image of wild boar in Berlin was taken by photographer and Wild Wonders of Europe Director, Florian Möllers. We are very proud that he has been awarded the position of Ambassador for the UN Decade of Biodiversity for Germany.

Florian's own much acclaimed exhibition "Biopolis - Wildes Berlin" will be on show at Berlin's Natural History Museum until July 31st 2012 (closed on Mondays). This world-class Museum is located a 5-minute walk around the corner from the Wild Wonders exhibition.
