Wild Wonders in China, Denmark and Mexico

June was a historic month for Wild Wonders of Europe reaching people on 3 continents - Asia, Central America and Europe, and realising our ambition to spread our message to the World. Magnus Lundgren's blog of the inauguration in Shanghai confirmed that our positive message of hope and that "conservation works, we just need more of it", resonates with people across the planet.

No problem: Users of one of the latest Nokia mobiles can now download the Wild Wonders of Europe "handheld" exhibition from our partner, Nokia's www.ovi.com website.

The App features ALL 100 outdoor exhibition images, background information about species and habitats, conservation and threats in single or slide-show view.

Something to share with friends. Something to be inspired by.

Yep, it's free.

However, the pictures DO look much more impressive at 1.8 by 1.2 metre size in the Outdoor Exhibition...

A historic moment for European forests

The Forest Europe Ministerial Conference that concluded in Oslo on 16 June was considered a historical moment for European forests, one that will shape forest policy over the next decade.

Attended by forestry ministers together with representatives of 43 European countries and the EU, important decisions were taken on the future of the protection and sustainable management of forests in Europe.

2011 is significant in being the UN International Year of Forests and coincides with the publication of a book on European forests richly illustrated with Wild Wonders of Europe images soon to be available.

White-tailed eagles inject £5 million to rural economy

A heartwarming article has just been published outlining the economic benefit of Mull's white-tailed eagles which has more than tripled in just five years, according to an independent study commissioned by the RSPB. The trend in evaluating biodiversity in economic terms is really starting to come to the fore and can only mean good news for conservation. Finally we are starting to realise the direct economic benefits of wildlife.

  Wild Wonders of Europe

Vital for local economy: "Wildlife tourism is one of the pillars on which Argyll and the Isles can position itself as a world leading tourism destination and the white tailed eagle programme is a fantastic example of how our pristine rural environment can provide a unique and sustainable visitor experience." Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland.
