Maurizio Biancarelli won the “Wild Places” category with a glorious image from Plitvice National Park , Croatia that he took on his assignment for Wild Wonders of Europe in the fall of 2008. Other awarded images from the Wild Wonders of Europe collection are the Dalmatian Pelicans by Jari Peltomäki from Lake Kerkini in Greece , which won him a Highly Commended in the “Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife” category. Edwin Giesbers scored in the “Creative Visions of Nature” categroy with “Out of the Blue”, an image from his Liechtenstein mission. Sandra Bartocha bagged a Highly Commended award in the “In Praise of Plants” category for one of her superb orchid photographs from Gargano National Park Italy . Further winners are: Orsolya Haarberg (HC*), Verena-Popp Hackner (HC*), Peter Cairns (RU*), Laurent Geslin (W*), Michel Roggo (HC*) and Tom Schandy (HC*) – all with images from European landscapes and wildlife! And last but not least Christian Ziegler (HC*) with a colibri shot from Panama . (* HC = Highly Commended, RU = Runner-Up, W = Winner) |
