On 22 May 2012, The United Nations International Day for Biological Diversity, our "Wild Wonders of Europe" outdoor exhibition opened in Berlin.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs Ursula Heinen-Esser, Parliamentary Secretary of State, Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (BMU) at Washingtonplatz, right in front of the Hauptbahnhof, one of Europe's largest stations and close to the Reichstag and Kanzleramt. It remained on display here for 10 weeks until 27 July 2012, visited by more than 700,000 people, including 1000 school kids.

Made possible by The Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the Wild Wonders of Europe exhibition formed the central part of the city’s official UN decade of Biodiversity celebrations.

This year's crucially important UN theme is Marine Biodiversity. In line with that, the exhibition contained many fabulous marine images by some of Europe's leading underwater photographers. (look out for our book "Wild Waters of Europe"” to be published later in the year too!) A special selection of images from Berlin’s impressive urban biodiversity and of Germany’s UNESCO World Heritage Beech Forests was also on display.

The exhibition was open 24 hrs a day, with free admission to all!
